Bergamot (citrus bergamia) is a type of citrus fruit. His origins are unknown. Some say that it comes from the Canary Islands carried by Christopher Columbus on his way back to Italy, some say that it is originated from Turkey, some from Greece.

Truth is that somehow it has been almost lost all around the word and now 90% of Bergamot production is in a small region of Italy named Calabria, more exactly in the coast of the Reggio Calabria province.

Seoul Homebrew bergamot peels come from the Reggio Calabria province indeed. handpicked, hand peeled, naturally dried and specially processed in order to retain all those very important essential oils.

Our Bergamot is exported all over the world and used by the biggest and most famous breweries and distilleries to aromatize their liquors, beer and detox drinks. 

The aroma is citrucy, spicy. A mix of a bitter orange peel and lime, with hints of fresh raspberry and roman mint leaves. Somehow it imparts also a very light fresh piny-wood aroma.

Use from 1gr/Liter to 1.5 gr/Liter on the whirpool or at the last 5 minutes boil.

Bergamot essential oils are used very widely in bakery, and cooking but its main usage is in perfumery (essential component in eau de cologne and eau de toilette), pharmaceutical (skin beauty, refreshing, lowers cholesterol and blood sugar) and aromatherapy as anti-stress. 

Fun fact the very famous Earl grey tea original name was Bergamot tea because it is obtained by mixing black tea and bergamot peels (or extract).
